ENAMEL PLATE WITH FLOWER AND BUTTERFLY, QING DYNASTY, QINGLONG REIGN
The bottle has an open mouth and wide sides, a short neck, a long and thin body and folded shoulders.
Both inside and outside of the bottle is covered with white glaze, and the body is painted with butterflies playing among the flowers. On one side, it inscribes poems in ink and calligraphy, combining poetry and painting.
The bottom of the vessel is marked in seal script with “Made in the Qing Dynasty, Qianlong reign” in red.
In contrast to the enamel with bright colors and strong three-dimensional effect, the overall color effect of pastel looks softer.
The pastel was originally created in the Kangxi reign, and it was greatly developed in the Yongzheng reign when the craftsmanship developed and matured at that time. It reached its peak in the Qianlong reign, and pastels were also widely used in the newly created patterns and shapes at that time. It has become a major feature of Qianlong reign colored porcelain.
